Epic Showroom submission
Showroom is Epic's vendor marketplace and the gating distribution channel for any third-party app a hospital wants to deploy. SoFaaS™ runs submission on your behalf.
What Showroom is
Epic Showroom (renamed from App Orchard) is Epic's vendor marketplace. Hospitals running Epic discover and request third-party apps from there. A listing is optional after you have a live customer connection — Epic is federated, so a hospital can license and provision your app without one. In practice the listing is how multi-hospital third-party distribution works, which is why almost every vendor files it.
A listing is not a blocker on your first deployment, and it is not sufficient on its own. Beyond the listing, you still need the runtime, the BAA, the SOC 2 posture, and the per-hospital security review. SoFaaS™ handles the listing as part of getting all of that in place. Read the public-facing explainer at /epic-showroom, plus Showroom vs a runtime and the build-vs-buy comparison.
What we file
- App metadata: name, description, screenshots, demo video, support contacts.
- Technical specification: SMART scopes requested, FHIR resources used, launch context required.
- Security documentation: SOC 2 Type II report, BAA template, sub-processor list, data flow diagrams.
- Sandbox access: a working sandbox instance Epic can use to validate the app.
- Vendor agreements: Epic's standard vendor terms, signed by SoFaaS™ as the runtime operator and you as the app provider.
What you provide
Your job is the product story and the proof it works. Specifically:
- App name, one-line description, longer description, and 4–8 screenshots.
- A 60–120 second demo video.
- Support email and SLA description.
- Sign-off on the technical spec we draft from your app config.
Everything else — the security packet, the vendor agreements, the sandbox plumbing — is on us.
Timeline
Honest expectation-setting: Showroom submission is the slowest part of getting live, and it's largely Epic's queue depth, not ours.
- Week 1. Kickoff. We collect the assets above and draft the technical spec.
- Weeks 1–3. SoFaaS™ files the submission. Epic's intake usually responds within two weeks.
- Weeks 2–8. Epic reviews. They may come back with clarifications; we handle the responses.
- Listing live. Once approved, your app appears in Showroom and is requestable by Epic-using hospitals.
While Showroom is in flight, you can be running a hospital pilot on the SoFaaS™ runtime in parallel. Showroom is the public-facing distribution channel, not a blocker on the first deployment if the hospital is ready to move directly.
After listing
After listing, every hospital that wants to deploy you goes through the same flow: request from Showroom, sign the SoFaaS™ BAA, complete the standardized security packet, provision the app inside their Epic instance. SoFaaS™ owns the runtime side; you stay focused on the product.
Listing maintenance — updating your description, adding new screenshots, refreshing the demo video — is a console action in SoFaaS™. We file the update with Epic on your behalf.
Have an active Showroom submission elsewhere? Talk to us — we can usually fold it into the SoFaaS™ process without restarting the queue.
